For many of us, the course of our lives is influenced by the people who believe in us. If we’re lucky, we also get the chance to believe in someone else, and help him or her on their journey.

For those who are incarcerated, it can be hard not to lose hope — and feeling hopeless can make it harder to re-enter the world with purpose and with positive skills.

One program is aiming to change this reality. Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue, based in California, is pairing at-risk dogs in need of training with inmates in California who provide training to make the dogs more adoptable.

The 14-week program, called Pawsitive Change Prison Program, has begun showing some incredible results.
