For adoptable dog Holiday, it must feel lonely to be without a family.

But she’s slowly learning that even without a home to call her own, there are other ways to find peace: in the love and affection from another homeless dog, for example.

Holiday was returned after a trial adoption, and went back to her foster home. Since she’d been gone, a new foster pup, Blinx, had taken up residence.

As it turned out, Blinx needed a friend, too, and was ready to comfort Holiday amidst all the changes they were both experiencing.

Mr. Bones & Co., the rescue group that both dogs are part of, reflected,

“Despite lacking stability over the previous weeks as they moved from shelter to rescue to foster, through all the change and stress they found comfort not only in the new humans caring for them, but in each other.”

And as it turned out, Holiday was suffering from heartworm — a fact that Blinx may have sensed as he so carefully tended to her. The humans caring for the pups, on the other hand, didn’t find out how advanced the heartworm was until later.

Mr. Bones & Co., in describing the bond between the two, said that the tender video was captured “prior to us understanding how advanced [Holiday’s] heartworm was. Blinx may have known more than we did. He stayed by her side all weekend, went at her pace and offered unconditional loyalty to her.”

Both Holiday and Blinx are available for adoption through Mr. Bones & Co.
